In the fall of 1939 E. C. Tally purchased some farming land near Justin, Texas and began growing seed wheat and oats. This first generation of seed producers provided the foundation for the incorporation of Justin Seed Company in 1958. The second generation of seed producers maintained strong roots in oat and wheat seed production. With the development of hybrid forages the second generation expanded into forage production. During the formative period Justin Seed started introducing related services and products to the local agriculture market.
Currently the third generation is continuing the family tradition. Justin Seed has developed into offering contract growing in forage, native and improved grasses, and wildflower seeds. With the proximity of Dallas/Fort Worth, the related services and products have continued to grow to include lawn and turf specialties.
